|Description||Norboletone (Norbolethone) is an anabolic steroid for the treatment of short stature but never marketed.|
|In Vivo||Norboletone can protect the rat against the production of multiple intestinal ulcers and peritonitis by indsmethacirp. Norboletone at 10 mg dosage level offers complete protection of indomethacin produced gastrointestinal ulcers. Norbolethone impairs the ability to excrete the foreign dyes and to secrete bile.|

|Rats: Female rats receive indomethacin at the dosage of 1 mg in 0.2 mL water, subcutaneously, once daily. Group I is not otherwise treated, group 2 receives 2 mg of spironslactoare, and groups 3 and 4 are given 2 and 10 mg of Norboletone respectively, in 1 mL water, twice daily by a stomach tube, beginning on the fourth day before initiation of indomethacin treatment. The experiment is terminated on the sixth day of indomethacin treatment by killing the survivors with chIoroform. At that time, the incidence and severity of the intestinal ulcers and peritonitis are determined. MCE has not independently confirmed the accuracy of these methods. They are for reference only.|
